- Some questions that almost every sysop
- asks when s/he first brings up STadel.
-
-
- Q) How do I create new rooms?
-
- A) .E(nter) R(oom) will do it. If you've #defined ROOMOK to 0,
- you've got to be at the system console or an aide to do it. To
- edit an existing room, you use .A(ide special-ftn) E(dit room).
-
-
- Q) The modem only answers at 300 baud.
- Q) The modem doesn't hang up when a caller logs off.
- Q) STadel doesn't work with my modem!
-
- A) You probably don't have the modem set up properly. For the
- modem to work properly, you need to have DTR coming from the
- computer (A Hayes modem would have switch one UP) and CD and DSR
- normal (A Hayes modem would have switch 6 UP)
-
- STadel should work with any modem that has CD tracking carrier.
- If the modem responds to DTR, that is the best way to have the
- modem hang up the phone. STadel has been tested on and works with
- the following modems:
-
- MultiTech 1200 Supra 2400
- MultiTech 2400 USR Courier 2400
- Hayes 1200 USR HST 9600
- Hayes 2400 FastComm 19,200
- Avatex 1200 HC Everex 2400
- Avatex 2400 HC Incomm 2400
- Avatex 1200 Telebit Trailblazer 19,200
- Avatex 1200E Prometheus 2400B2
-
-
- Q) Why doesn't 2400 baud work with my <xxx> modem?
-
- A) You need to so #define INIT-SPEED 2 in your CTDLCNFG.SYS
-
-
- Q) How do I create a directory room.
- Q) How do I have file descriptions for files in a directory room.
- Q) I can't get the .DIR file to work properly with .RE
-
- A) You make a directory room by doing .A(ide-special ftn) E(dit
- room) and doing the [D] command from inside the edit-room menu.
- The descriptions for files are kept in a special file called
- '.DIR' ($DIR for STadel-PC) in the directory for that room.
- (FILETAG.DOC gives particulars on it.)
-
- There is a program called CDDE included with the STadel
- distribution that will let you add and modify the descriptions in
- the .DIR file. If you have trouble making up the descriptions
- via a normal text editor, you can use this program. (It's a GEM
- program, so you have to execute it from the desktop or from a
- shell that gives you access to GEM programs.)
-
-
- Q) Can STadel network with Citadel-86, Citadel-68K,
- StoneHenge,....
-
- A) No. STadel can do local roomsharing and mail transfers with
- Citadel-86 and Citadel-68K. It cannot network at all with
- Stonehenge. When netting with a Citadel-86 or a Citadel-68K, you
- must call that system when it's in NETWORK mode; otherwise the
- networking will fail miserably.....
-
-
- Q) Why won't the system let me use any of the Aide commands when I
- am logged in at the system console?
-
- A) You first have to use the sysop command [P] to make yourself an
- aide before you can use the Aide commands.
-
-
- Q)Why can't Configur create the .sys files on my ElCheapo PC
- Clone?
-
- A) Make sure that you have a line like FILES=20 in your config.sys
- file.
